Equitable Access to Campsite Inventory
Demands on reservations systems will continue to grow, that is why Camis has put in place several options to support more equitable access to park inventory

Never has Camis seen a greater interest in camping than the summer of 2021. On our peak days last spring, our systems made nearly 30,000 reservations for our clients. Our analytics and security team would see 1000’s of reservations occurring within minutes. It was understandable that the public expressed their frustration as they attempted again and again to book a site through their customer account only to find depleting inventory. Without a doubt the primary cause of these challenges was the public demand; a good problem to have and one we want to encourage.
With camping becoming more popular, demands on reservations systems will continue to grow, that is why Camis has put in place several options for clients to access which support more equitable access to park inventory for the 2022 season.
Restrict Occupant Changes
Some of our customer reservations systems can be configured to restrict changes to available booking categories; this means that changes to the site occupants can be disallowed, reducing the risk of reselling of sites.
Restrict Number of Sites Booked for a Date
The Camis configuration team can create volume restrictions by customer account. This would restrict each account to only being permitted to book a certain number of sites for a given date or date range. So, one person can't go on the website and reserve 10 sites for a long weekend and then sell them for others to use – each site for the defined date(s) would require its own customer account information to identify precisely who is staying on the site.
Promote Group Bookings
Group sites are an ideal way to ensure you are accommodating your clients larger group needs and can do so under one booking. Group bookings can be created from a single customer account and occupants can remain undefined. This helps you meet your customer’s need to camp-out with their larger group without overusing inventory and reduces the risk of reselling.
Offer Availability Notifications
Sometimes a client may be disappointed to find that there are no sites available for the dates specified, or a preferred park or site is not available for the dates they want. Availability Notification is a recently added feature you can offer your customers. It allows customers to be notified by email if a site comes available for the location and times they specify. They can then respond promptly to book the site. Essentially, this feature puts your customer next in line.
Bot Detection and Prevention Systems
Bots are software that can target a goal and act on it. Bots do have the potential to make transactions far faster than any human, leaving the average person at a great disadvantage. Camis approaches the prevention of bot traffic with a new state of the art, artificial intelligence solution that learns, adapts, and engages unwanted bot attempts before they are successful, this not only creates more equitable access for campers and boaters to make reservations but also supports increased security of site data and an overall better performing system.
As interest in camping continues to grow, we want to support our clients with the options and tools to create a reservation experience that is unique to the needs of the park and facilitates fair access to our client’s inventory. Talk to an account manager to learn more about the options already available.
